Weave & Extension Hair Care Tips
Many retailers boast about the tangle free quality of their weave and extension hair, without mentioning its limitations. While our high-quality hair is certainly less susceptible to tangling and matting than its counterparts, it’s only as good as the care given to it. In order to get the most from your weave or extension, it is important to respect and take great care of it, just as you would your own. This means regular maintenance, use of quality products, and care when styling.
You can treat our hair as if it was your own, but below are some great hair care tips to assist with its upkeep and longevity.
(Please be advised: The information provided here are just general tips and opinions based on our experience and should not be viewed as hair care instructions, advice or consultation. Please consult your personal hair stylist for instructions on caring for any weaves, extensions or your own hair.)
TIPS FOR OUR STRAIGHT & BODYWAVE HAIR
1. Please be very careful when sewing in the weave. Do not sew through the wefts and be sure to seal the ends of the wefts if cut.
2. Make sure you wash the hair immediately after swimming, spa, exercise, etc., with non-drying (Alcohol Free) products. As with your own hair, when dirt and sweat accumulate, the hair tangles. Heavy leave-in conditioners and other hair care products will create a build up on the hair and will cause it to tangle as well. If the hair feels dry or heavy with buildup, wash it with good (Alcohol Free) moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
3. Comb through and braid your hair before going to sleep, swimming, or exercise.
4. NEVER SLEEP ON LOOSE, WET HAIR. Dry the hair completely or comb and braid it before going to bed.
5. Make sure you brush your hair daily, starting from the end up.
6. Use different bundle lengths to create a natural layered look or have your stylist razor cut for a natural look.
Tips for our Curly Hair
1. Please be very careful when sewing in the weave. Do not sew through the wefts and be sure to seal the ends of the wefts if cut.
2. Make sure you wash the hair immediately after swimming, spa, exercise, etc with non-drying (Alcohol Free) products. As with your own hair, when dirt and sweat accumulate, the hair tangles. Heavy leave-in conditioners and other hair care products will create a build up on the hair and will cause it to tangle as well. If the hair feels dry or heavy with buildup, wash it with good (Alcohol Free) moisturizing shampoo & conditioner.
3. Make sure you use a good (alcohol free) detangler. Apply a generous amount of product and comb through your hair with a WIDE TOOTH COMB while it is very wet.
4. NEVER SLEEP ON LOOSE WET HAIR. Dry the hair completely or comb and braid before going to bed.
5. For defining your curls use a Styling Custard. Divide hair into sections and apply the custard to very wet hair. Smooth each section with fingers from the root to the ends of the hair. On loose curls, scrunch damp hair for more volume.
6. Air Dry Hair completely before touching to avoid frizz.
7. To wear your curly hair in a straight style, please wash, condition, dry, and flat iron (on a medium setting) or set hair on rollers and sit under a hair dryer.
