In the past few years, hair weaves and extensions have seen a tremendous surge in popularity, and nothing has gained more favor in the industry than a type of weave hair called REMY. From Hollywood starlets and models to businesswomen and home makers, women all over the world are discovering the added flexibility, elegance, and beauty of great Remy weave or hair extension providers.

This growing consumer interest has sparked an entrepreneurial renaissance as well, especially among online retailers, and while there are many legitimate and trustworthy Remy retailers in the marketplace, there are also unknowledgeable and unscrupulous retailers who have no idea or care for what they are selling to unsuspecting customers.

This lack of care and knowledge often leads to drops in quality control, which creates an atmosphere of consumer mistrust , and ultimately hurts the industry as a whole.

JF Remy protects its clientele and their pocketbooks, with a new angle on hair retail, a different level of customer service and fierce attention to quality control.

Two of the fastest growing areas in the hair industry are hair weave and extensions, and of the other hair types of hair sold in the marketplace, Remy hair has the distinction of being the highest quality available.

People often inquire about the differences between Remy and other types of weave/extension hair.

A majority of hair sold in the marketplace is stripped of its cuticles via acid-baths and often silicone is used to enhance the hairs appearance. Over time due to repeated washing, the silicone fades and the cuticles devolve in to an unruly state, resulting in matting and tangling.

With Remy hair, the cuticles are not stripped and all face the same direction just as they did on the head the hair was collected. Because of this, and the absence of silicone, Remy hair does not mat or tangle and can be cared for in the same manner as your own natural hair.

“Virgin” simply means the hair has not been chemically treated or processed to achieve a specific texture or color.

Contrary to popular belief, India is not the only region in the world with Remy hair. South America, Malaysia, East Asia, and Europe are regions where Remy hair can be purchased. It is not the region that determines the quality of Remy, it is the care given to it when it is collected from the hair donor.

Remy Hair Care Tips

Many retailers boast about the tangle free quality of Remy hair, without mentioning its limitations. While quality Remy hair is certainly less susceptible to tangling and matting than its counterparts, it is only as good as the care given to it. In order to get the most from your Remy hair, it is important to respect and take care of it, just as you would your own. This means regular maintenance, use of quality products, and care when styling.

You can treat our hair as if it was your own hair, but below are some great hair care tips to assist with the upkeep and longevity of your Remy hair.

(Please be advised, these are just tips and should not be viewed as hair care instructions. Please consult your personal hair stylist for instructions on caring for your hair.)
1. Please be very careful when sewing in the weave. Do not sew through the wefts and be sure to seal the ends of the wefts if cut.

2. Make sure you wash the hair immediately after swimming, spa, exercise, etc., with non-drying (Alcohol free) products. As with your own hair, when dirt and sweat accumulate, the hair tangles. Heavy leave-in conditioners and other hair care products will create a build up on the hair and will cause it to tangle as well. If the hair feels dry or heavy with buildup, wash it with good (Alcohol free) moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

3. Comb through and braid your Remy hair before going to sleep, swimming, or exercise.

4. Never sleep on loose, wet hair. Dry the hair completely, or comb and braid it before going to bed.

5. Make sure you brush your daily, start from the end up.

6. Use different bundle lengths to create a natural layered look or have your stylist razor cut for a natural look.

5. For defining your curls use a Styling Custard. Divide hair into sections and apply the custard to very wet hair. Smooth each section with fingers from the root to the ends of the hair. On loose curls, scrunch damp hair for more volume.

6. Air dry hair completely before touching to avoid frizz.

7. To wear your curly Remy hair in a straight style, please wash, condition, dry, and flat iron (on a medium setting) or set hair on rollers and sit under a hair dryer.
